Ministry of Communications and Information Technology

Communication reason enable communication with the help of digital technologies; sharing of information and content (e.g. images, text, audio-visual content).

The long name for this day marks the merger of two nearly-alike curule days in 2006 by the United Nations. One of the two days, World Telecommunication Day, was celebrated every May 17 since 1969. It marked the founding of the International Telecommunication Union on May 17, 1865.

Greening ICT, or appropriate user-friendlily policies, has become a dire need. Environment protection is an important issue for human safety, for sustaining social and economic development, and for preserving natural gifts for next generations. ICT implement, extensively spread currently, constitute very essential potentially for protecting surrounding, creating solutions for decreasing toxic emissions by other sectors.

In common ICT is just a tool to heighten innovation. At the end of the day, it manage with humans, so if we do not have the human components well integrated in this whole ecosystem, then we will face problems. It is crucial therefore to understand the context in which we are using or applying our innovations; only then can we make the most of their efficacious.

The ICT standardization ecosystem has evolved considerably, in tune with the increasing speed of technological advance. This ecosystem has full-grown to include numerous standards-coagulation entities, some very focused and others very broad in scope. Innovations from ICT — and the roll out of these technologies — touch every aspect of our lives. They are shaping political agendas and can help us achieve our development goals. Ahead of this Sunday’s Happy World Telecommunication & Information Society Day, PhD sharer Shuan SadreGhazi explains more on the grounds between ICT and innovation. Innovations from ICT and the implementation of these technologies have pervaded different aspects of our alive. Look everywhere, you can see one way or another how ICT has really facilitated our living. We need ICTs as a tool, as a catalyser, because for innovation you need information. Once you gather advice, you need to collaborate with others, you exigency to communicate with others: to interpret the complaint, to find out what are the opportunities for innovation. And then you need to find and use resources, you exigency to cooperate with other actors in different areas to thrust the innovation further.

Often you indigence a platform to get all these things going on, and these are all things where ICT is really crucial and can play a wider party. There are certain limitations in developing countries where we need additional tools to go prompt with innovation.

Human touch

Yet technology alone is not a panacea for innovation. You always need additional measures on the festive and human aspects of innovation. For example, even if you have the best computer software and hardware to enhance doctrine at schools in rural areas, if there is not a proper mentor, or a teacher who is trained to utilise those technologies for educating those students, the whole vestment will be in vain. We have seen in several cases that despite witty ideas being behind ICT for innovation, the initiative has not delivered on its promises. Another egress is with regulations. Specifically in developing countries, regulations tend to lag behind the development and schedule out of ICT. For example, in the casing of mobile banking, although it can be very noteful to offer banking services to people who cannot normally have a bank account, we have seen several issues with regulation, preventing relations from actually using these services.

In general ICT is just a bowl to increase innovation. At the end of the day, it apportionment with humans, so if we do not have the human components well integrated in this whole ecosystem, then we will countenance problems. It is crucial therefore to understand the context in which we are using or applying our innovations. Only then can we make the most of their possibility.
